The easiest skate in the valley is **free**: the outdoor rink at **Snowmass Base Village**, with free skate rentals and fire pits beside it. In Aspen itself, **Silver Circle** is the outdoor rink at the foot of Aspen Mountain. For indoor public skate, the City of Aspen runs the **Aspen Ice Garden** downtown and **Lewis Ice Arena** at the Aspen Recreation Center.

## Skating under the sky

- **Snowmass Base Village**: Free outdoor rink with free skate rentals from the Airstream trailer beside it, directly outside the Limelight Hotel Snowmass. Fire pits around the plaza.
- **Silver Circle, Aspen**: The outdoor rink downtown, steps from Aspen Mountain, with skate rentals through the neighbouring CP Burger.
- **Snowmass Village Ice Rink**: A free winter rink on the tennis courts at the Snowmass Recreation Center, 9 a.m. to 9 p.m., weather permitting. Bring your own skates.

## Public skate indoors

- **Aspen Ice Garden**: The City of Aspen's indoor rink downtown at 233 W. Hyman Avenue: public skate, lessons, figure skating and hockey.
- **Lewis Ice Arena**: An NHL-sized rink at the Aspen Recreation Center. Public skate sessions follow the arena calendar; call 970-544-4117 for reservations.

- **Season**: Outdoor rinks open as winter sets in and close when the ice softens in spring. Indoor rinks run year-round on a published schedule.
