March brings **almost as much snow as midwinter (26.9 inches in town)** with highs of 43°F and much longer days. School spring breaks spread through the month and **Easter is Sunday, March 28, 2027**. For trips that run into April, one date matters more than any other: **Aspen's airport closes at 11pm on April 4, 2027** for reconstruction, until November 19.

## The April 4, 2027 airport closure

- **Aspen (ASE)**: Last operations at 11pm on Sunday, April 4, 2027; closed for reconstruction until November 19, 2027.
- **Who it affects**: Any trip leaving after April 4, including the last two weeks of the ski season (Aspen Mountain and Snowmass close April 18) and Aspen Shortsfest (April 6–10).
- **Alternatives**: Eagle (about 70 miles), Rifle (the usual choice for private aircraft) or Denver (via I-70 and Glenwood Springs; Independence Pass is still closed).

## Spring break and the run to closing

- **Through March**: School spring breaks, staggered week by week; families fill ski school and childcare.
- **March 28**: Easter Sunday; the week around it is the busy one of late season.
- **Late-season tickets**: In 2026, adult lift tickets were $98 from March 28 to closing. The 2027 offer is announced in spring; we'll confirm it.
- **April 4 / 11 / 18**: Buttermilk closes April 4, Aspen Highlands April 11 (the famous costume closing party), Aspen Mountain and Snowmass April 18, 2027.

## When March is busy

- **Spring-break weeks**: Busy, but spread out: no single week matches the holidays, and Snowmass absorbs families best.
- **Easter week (around March 28)**: The busiest week of late season. Book the house, lessons and the Easter dinner early.
- **Early March and after Easter**: The same snow with fewer families; after Easter, late-season pricing has historically made it the best-value ski window.
