Aspen's nights mostly start at dinner. The late scene lives in a few places: **Belly Up** for headline shows in a room of about **400**; restaurants that turn into DJ nights, like **Madame Ushi** (underground) and **The Snow Lodge** at the St. Regis; clubs like **Escobar** and **The Sterling**; and cocktail rooms like **Hooch** and **Hidalgo** at the W. Two things catch visitors out: **big shows and holiday tables go early**, and **Uber and Lyft are unreliable late**, so plan the ride home first.

## Our read on Aspen after dark

- **Dinner is the night**: Many of the best late evenings are restaurants that become parties: dinner at 8, DJs by 10, and you never change venue. Book the table as the night, not the prelude.
- **A small town at peak demand**: There are only a handful of late rooms. In the holiday fortnight, X Games weekend and Presidents' week, the good tables and the big Belly Up shows go well ahead.
- **The ride home is the real problem**: Rideshare is thin in Aspen, especially at closing time on busy nights; taxis run 24/7 but wait times grow. A driver on call ends the night properly.
- **Outdated lists**: Bootsy Bellows closed and its owner opened The Sterling; some guides online still list the old club. Everything here was checked this month.

## Belly Up and The Sterling

- **Belly Up Aspen**: A 400-seat room downtown with a renowned sound system and stadium headliners on its stage. Big shows sell out; buy tickets when you book the trip.
- **The Sterling Aspen**: Live music and tapas from 6 to 10 p.m., then DJs, dancing and bottle service in the lounge. It offers VIP tables with bottle service; minimums aren't published and rise on holiday nights. ## Clubs and dancing

- **Escobar**: An intimate downtown club built to look like an aircraft fuselage, with nightly DJs well into the morning.
- **The Snow Lodge**: At the St. Regis: dinner that turns into dancing, with caviar service, Italian food and cocktails.
- **Madame Ushi**: An underground Japanese steakhouse and bar that turns into a late-night DJ room; reservations on OpenTable.

## Cocktails and lounges

- **Hooch**: A subterranean craft cocktail bar from the Meat & Cheese team, open 5 p.m. to 1 a.m. nightly.
- **Hidalgo at the W**: An agave cocktail lounge with DJ sets that bills itself as Aspen's late-night cocktail room; the W's WET Deck rooftop is the daytime and après counterpart.
- **J-Bar at Hotel Jerome**: The classic: an Aspen bar since the hotel's 1889 beginnings, for a quieter drink with history.
- **The Wine Bar at The Little Nell**: 35 wines by the glass and a vinyl DJ, 3 to 9 p.m. daily.
- **Limelight Lounge**: An upscale living room with live music, in Aspen and Snowmass.
- **Silver City**: In the basement of the historic Elks building: whiskey, a jukebox, karaoke on Mondays and the last public pool table in Aspen.
- **Aspen Art Museum rooftop**: Saturday après parties from 5 to 9 p.m. with a resident DJ.
