Canonical page: https://aspenprive.com/aspen-vs-park-city/ Updated: 2026-10-02 · Publisher: Aspen Privé (local Aspen stay planning and concierge) **Park City Mountain** is the largest single resort in the US at **7,300 acres** on the **Epic Pass**, about a **35-minute drive** from Salt Lake City International. **Aspen** is **four mountains** (about **5,480 acres**) on the **Ikon Pass**, with more vertical and a smaller, more exclusive town. Mountain statistics are each resort's published figures; pass and travel details from the resorts, Ikon, Epic and the airports. Checked October 2, 2026. ## The numbers - **Terrain**: Aspen: four mountains on one ticket, about 5,480 acres combined (Snowmass alone 3,362). Park City: 7,300 acres across two base villages, 330+ runs. - **Summit**: Aspen: Snowmass 12,510 ft, Highland Bowl 12,392 ft. Park City: 10,026 ft; base 6,800 ft. - **Vertical**: Aspen: Snowmass 4,406 ft; Highlands 4,342 ft with the Bowl. Park City: about 3,226 ft (summit minus base). - **Lifts**: Park City: 41 lifts. - **Pass (2026–27)**: Aspen Snowmass: Ikon (7 days combined on the full Ikon Pass). Park City: Epic (Vail Resorts). - **Airport**: Aspen: its own airport (ASE), about 3 miles from town. Park City: Salt Lake City International (SLC), about a 35-minute drive, with nonstops from more than 70 US cities. ## How you arrive - **The journey**: Park City is about 35 minutes from Salt Lake City International. Aspen is a connecting flight into ASE, or about four hours from Denver in winter. - **Aspen's airport**: ASE is a few minutes from town, with commercial and private flights. It closes April 4 to November 19, 2027 for runway work, so late-season spring trips should check dates. [Aspen restaurants](https://aspenprive.com/aspen-restaurants/). - **Park City**: A historic silver-mining town with a lively Main Street, the Sundance Film Festival history and easy reach of Salt Lake City; busier and more suburban than Aspen. - **Non-skiers**: Aspen gives non-skiers more to do: spas, shopping, snowshoeing and sleigh dinners. [Aspen for non-skiers](https://aspenprive.com/aspen-for-non-skiers/). ## What it costs - **Passes**: If you already hold Ikon or Epic, the pass often decides the trip. Window tickets at both are expensive; check each resort's current prices for your dates. - **Lodging**: Aspen is consistently one of the most expensive ski towns in North America, especially over the holidays. We don't publish average prices we can't verify. [What an Aspen trip costs](https://aspenprive.com/aspen-trip-cost/). ## Who each suits - **Choose Aspen if**: you want more vertical and higher terrain, a more exclusive town, or four distinct mountains for a mixed group. - **Choose Park City if**: you want the easiest big-airport access in American skiing, hold an Epic Pass, or want sheer acreage; Deer Valley is also next door. - **Honestly**: For a short trip from a major city, Park City's access is a genuine advantage. For a week where the town, the service and the variety matter, Aspen is the stronger choice. ## If you choose Aspen (what Aspen Privé arranges) We're the local team: the airport pickup, skis fitted at the house, the house stocked before you land and a driver for the evenings.
