New Year's Eve in Aspen follows a pattern: family activities early, fireworks over Aspen Mountain in the evening, then restaurants running early and late seatings and hotels hosting ticketed parties past midnight. The whole town books out, so the evening is decided weeks ahead, not on the day.
What follows is based on last season's published programme (New Year's Eve 2025, as reported by the Aspen Chamber) and how we plan the night for guests. Times and menus change each year; we note where to confirm.

Family night with the fireworks and an early table, or a late dinner into a party? Most groups with children do the first; mixing both usually means two plans.
Book as soon as menus are announced, typically in November. Fixed menus and minimum spends are normal on the night; ask about both when you book.
For a large group or young children, a private chef at the residence is often the better evening: your own time, fireworks from the deck if the view allows, and no midnight logistics. Chefs book out for the 31st early too.
Arrange the car before you arrange anything else for after midnight. A driver held for the evening removes the only part of the night that reliably goes wrong.
Book New Year's Day brunch, or have breakfast stocked at the house, and keep ski lessons for the afternoon.
Fireworks time, party line-ups, menus and prices change every season, and not every venue repeats. We confirm the current year's programme for guests in November and December rather than relying on last year's list.
In 2025 they were at 8 p.m. over Aspen Mountain; the Aspen Chamber's events calendar describes them at 9 p.m. The time is set each year, so confirm it in December.
They go up over Aspen Mountain, so they're visible from most of downtown and from homes with a view of the mountain.

Plan it in advance. Taxis and ride-hail are scarce around midnight; a car and driver held for the evening is the reliable option.
