Paul Montiel

Born in Miami, raised in Venezuela, shaped by years in Spain, and living and working in Aspen. Between those places I picked up something that does not show up on a resume: the best version of a trip is rarely the most obvious one.

I moved to the United States in 2022 and started my hospitality career here at Jackson Lake Lodge in Grand Teton National Park. Aspen came after that, and it came from the inside out. Christy Sports at The St. Regis Aspen Resort, then The Little Nell, where I worked in hospitality operations and supervised a team, and then Aspen Alps, where I work in residential and guest operations and hold a management role today.

Those years taught me the thing that actually matters in this work, which is that the difference between a good stay and a great one is almost never the budget. It is whether somebody was paying attention. Who is arriving, what they care about, what is going to go wrong before it does, and what nobody thought to ask for.

Why Aspen Privé exists

Hotels do this well, but only inside their own walls. Once a guest is in a private residence, or moving between the mountain and dinner and the airport, that same standard usually falls apart into a set of disconnected vendors and a phone number nobody answers on a Saturday.

Aspen Privé is my answer to that. One point of responsibility, held by someone who knows the town, knows how it actually works in February when everything is full, and answers for the whole thing rather than one piece of it.

Aspen for Venezuela

In 2026, after the earthquake in Venezuela, I organized a fundraiser here in about two weeks. Local businesses, sponsors, volunteers, and a fair amount of asking people I barely knew for help. We raised more than five thousand dollars for humanitarian relief, and it was covered by Aspen Public Radio and The Aspen Times.

I bring it up because it is the most honest evidence I can offer of what I am actually selling. Not a list of hotels I have worked at, but the ability to move quickly in this specific town, get real people to say yes, and finish something. That is the same skill a trip needs.
