A long white-linen table set with wine glasses under an open-sided white tent on a summer evening
Summer  ·  A slower afternoon

A good lunch. A very good place.

Plan a picnic in Aspen around access, weather and the people coming. A simple lunch outdoors is different from a staffed event or a reserved private setup.

A picnic can be the nicest hour of a summer day without becoming a production. Choose a place the group can comfortably reach, food that travels well and a weather alternative. A table, catering team or exclusive setup in a public park is a different arrangement and needs permission and a separately confirmed scope.

IChoose the setting

Town, a scenic stop or the residence

A park in town
Useful for families or a short pause between other plans. Check the city’s rules and current use of the space; public does not mean exclusively yours.
A scenic stop
Plan access, toilets, walking distance and how food will be carried. Do not use a fragile or restricted place as a decorative venue.
The garden or terrace
A practical choice for mixed ages or uncertain weather. Confirm what outdoor space your actual booking includes and keep the meal close to an indoor fallback.
A hosted occasion
Flowers, rentals, staff or a larger guest list need a different brief. Public-land or park permissions must be checked before offering a setup.
IIThe food

Choose the meal for the journey

A lunch that can be carried and eaten comfortably is more useful than a menu that depends on a kitchen at the destination. Share allergies, dietary needs and children’s preferences. Plan water, appropriate food storage and how everything leaves with you.

If you need provisions at the residence first, grocery stocking is an existing Aspen Privé service. A chef-produced picnic, staffed setup or specialist food-safety arrangement is not automatically included and must be explicitly confirmed.

IIIBefore you go

Three checks for a better afternoon

Access

Parking or shuttle arrangements, walking distance and the needs of the least mobile guest. Maroon Bells has separate access rules.

Weather

A picnic should not depend on staying outdoors through poor weather. Pick a return plan or indoor alternative before leaving.

Permission

The City of Aspen publishes requirements for group park use. Alcohol, commercial activity and event setups can introduce additional requirements; check the actual plan with the relevant authority.

IVThe local plan

Keep it honest and uncomplicated

I can plan the scenic day, the driver and the existing provision services around it. We do not claim to reserve a public lawn, run a picnic-catering operation or hold special access.

Send dates, number and ages of guests, the kind of setting, mobility needs, dietary requirements and whether the lunch is casual or part of a celebration. If you want a fully styled or staffed picnic, that scope needs confirmation before it is offered.

Common questions

Can we reserve a public park for a picnic?

Group or event use follows the City’s reservation requirements. A casual visit is not an exclusive reservation.

Can a picnic include alcohol?

Check the rules and permissions for the actual location and event; no blanket permission is implied.

Do you provide a styled picnic package?

No package is claimed here. A staffed, catered or styled setup needs a separately confirmed scope and any required permissions.

Can you arrange provisions and the car?

Those existing services can be coordinated within an approved plan.
