The Maroon Bells reflected in Maroon Lake on a summer morning
Occasions  ·  Elopements

A small ceremony. A considered plan.

Eloping in Aspen: separate the marriage license, ceremony permission and guest logistics. Plan photography, transport and dinner without assuming access or permits.

A small wedding still has three separate parts: the legal marriage, permission to use the place and the day around it. A marriage license does not reserve a mountain location. I can coordinate the Aspen transport, photographer and dinner while the appropriate authority or venue confirms the ceremony requirements.

IIThe setting

Pick a place with a real fallback

Maroon Bells
The scenery is extraordinary, but access and ceremony reservations are their own planning task. Read the Maroon Bells wedding guide and check current land-manager rules.
A hotel or contracted venue
Useful when the ceremony, indoor fallback and meal can be handled under one venue agreement. The venue determines availability and any required planner.
A private residence
Get the owner’s permission for the gathering, photography and any outside suppliers. A quiet ceremony is still subject to the property’s rules.
A public outdoor setting
Do not treat a scenic viewpoint as an unreserved private venue. Confirm permitted use, access, weather exposure and photography requirements.
IIIThe day

Small does not mean improvised

Light and access

A photographer’s preferred light must fit the site’s permitted hours and transport arrangements.

Weather

Choose an indoor or lower-exposure alternative before committing to an outdoor ceremony; make sure it is actually available.

Guests

Even a handful of people need a pickup plan, suitable footwear and clear instructions. Share any mobility needs early.

Dinner

Choose a private dinner or a table in town. Keep enough time between the ceremony and dinner for photographs and the return journey.

IVScope

What I handle, and what stays with the right specialist

Aspen Privé’s role here is local coordination of the existing photographer, driver, dining and residence services. We do not issue marriage licenses, grant land-use permissions or present ourselves as the venue’s required wedding planner. A full wedding-production scope needs separate confirmation.

Send dates, number of guests, desired setting, legal-ceremony preference, photography needs, lodging address and budget. Tell me whether the place or the date matters more; that determines the first decision.

Common questions

Can we marry ourselves in Colorado?

Pitkin County states that couples may self-solemnize and that witnesses are not required. Confirm its current license instructions and your circumstances with the Clerk.

Does a marriage license reserve Maroon Bells?

No. Ceremony reservations, access and any land-use permissions are separate.

Are you our wedding planner?

Not automatically. Our confirmed scope is the Aspen coordination described here; venues or larger weddings may require a dedicated planner.

Can we use a rented house for an elopement?

Only with the property owner or manager’s explicit permission and any applicable requirements.
