For an emergency, call 911. Aspen Valley Hospital at 401 Castle Creek Road has a 24/7 emergency department and is a Level III Trauma Center. For ski injuries and other non-life-threatening problems, the Snowmass Village clinic in Base Village takes walk-ins 7 days a week, 8:30 a.m.–4:30 p.m., all year, with X-ray on site.

About one in four visitors sleeping above 8,000 feet at Colorado resorts has some altitude sickness, usually a headache in the first day or two. Confusion, trouble walking or breathlessness at rest are emergencies: call 911. Altitude: the first 48 hours.
