Summer 2027 is unusual: Aspen's airport is closed from April 4 to November 19, I-70 through Glenwood Canyon is under construction from May to October, and Eagle's summer airline schedule is due to jump from 46 to 112 weekly flights. Aspen itself is fully open. The difference is entirely in the arrival.

Rifle (private aircraft) and Grand Junction avoid the canyon entirely. Eagle and Denver-via-I-70 both go through it; Denver-via-Independence Pass doesn't, once the pass is open.
Avoid Thursday and Friday afternoons westbound. A Tuesday or Wednesday arrival is calmer on every route.
More flights will still fill: a closed Aspen airport sends every summer visitor somewhere else.
Longer transfers mean later arrivals. Have the residence stocked and the first dinner at home.
Summer's big events still draw crowds even without the airport. Check dates and book early.

Fly into Eagle, Rifle (private aircraft), Grand Junction or Denver and drive. Rifle and Grand Junction avoid Glenwood Canyon's construction; from Denver, Independence Pass avoids it once open in late May.
CDOT is repairing I-70 from May to October 2027, with head-to-head traffic between No Name and Hanging Lake. Expect delays at peak times.

We plan the arrival around the closure: the right airport, a car timed around the canyon, the house ready for a later arrival, and days out once you're here.
We watch the flight from the moment it leaves. If it's on time, a driver is waiting and the fire is lit when you walk in. If it diverts to Eagle or cancels, the car, the bags and the house all move with it, and you hear from us before you have to ask.
Stand at Maroon Lake as the sun hits the peaks, before the first shuttle arrives. A private car with a sunrise parking reservation, hot coffee and a picnic breakfast, and back to the house by mid-morning while the day is still young.
Up Highway 82 to 12,095 feet on the Continental Divide, with someone else driving the switchbacks. A stop at the Independence ghost town, a picnic at the top, and back in time for a late afternoon in town.
